DUO SCHERZO - DUO FOR FLUTE AND PIANO
Vera Morais and Margarida Prates, both soloists of the Cascais and Oeiras Chamber Orchestra, started their project there as a duo, having debuted in 2019, in the middle of the pandemic, with a concert broadcast live streaming by OCCO, dedicated to the composer Astor Piazzolla.
Following this transmission, RDP/Antena 2 invites the duo to perform a concert broadcast live dedicated to the Latin American repertoire, followed later by invitations to other performances in Portugal, among which the Christmas concert for the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, in 2020, stood out.
An invitation to play in Germany in 2021 opened doors for them internationally and as a result of the success achieved, the duo is invited to perform in that country and also to join the 2022 summer course in Springiersbach / Bengel, where they hold masterclasses as flute and piano teachers. In 2023 the Duo returns to foreign stages, performing in Luxembourg and Germany.
The duo's repertoire has meanwhile expanded, currently ranging from J.S.Bach to the 20th century, including the lesser-known repertoire of women composers from the 19th and 20th centuries, a program presented in 2022 at the Museu Nacional do Azulejo, on International Museum Day.
The duo is currently exploring new repertoires with enthusiasm, with a view to working on various projects in the future, with the intention of becoming a reference in Portugal and abroad.
